Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte wear matching ruffles for eight-year-old’s first Wimbledon
Kate Middleton dressed Princess Charlotte as a mini version of herself for the eight-year-old’s first time attending Wimbledon. The Prince and Princess of Wales made a family visit on Sunday 16 July, to watch the men’s Singles Final between Novak Djokovic from Serbia and Carlos Alcaraz from Spain. Princess Charlotte and Prince George, nine, the couple’s two eldest children, accompanied their parents to the prized match for their first appearance at the tournament this year. While Prince George was able to attend Wimbledon last year, Princess Charlotte had never been until this past weekend. To match her mother’s style, the princess donned a blue and white floral dress adorned with ruffle sleeves designed by the Spanish brand Friki. Meanwhile, Kate stunned in a Roland Mouret emerald green mid-calf dress with ruffle detailing along the neckline. The patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) continued her green streak from her previous two appearances this year, when she wore a structured Balmain jacket and a Self-Portrait belted short-sleeve dress. On Sunday with her family, Kate accessorised with a bow pinned to her chest in Wimbledon colours. Rather than representing a variety of green shades, Prince William and his children wore a range of blue instead. The 41-year-old father layered a gray suit jacket over a light blue shirt and matching navy tie and trousers. Prince George showed up in a navy blue suit similar to the one he wore last year, which sparked concern at the time. According to a report in People from 2022, the couple’s eldest son told his father he was “too hot” in his outfit not long after they arrived at the men’s finals in the 84F weather. Despite the high temperature, Prince George’s attire was in accordance with the renowned tennis tournament’s dress code. According to the Wimbledon website, all men sitting in the Royal Box at Centre Court must don “suits/jacket and tie.” A picture of the nine-year-old son exposed him overheating in his long-sleeve outfit with his hand on his forehead. He appeared to be wiping away sweat before his mom was caught checking his temperature with her hand on his face. Though the heat made it difficult to watch the match in formalwear, Prince George had already been required to follow the suit codes for several other events. That same year, the heat prompted the tournament to adjust their attire requirements in the Royal Box for the women’s final. Usually, large hats aren’t allowed in the private section because they could block other people’s views. However, because the temperature was so high and the sun was beating down, women were allowed to wear the large accessory to stay cool. Kim Kardashian left stunned after woman claims Skims bodysuit ‘saved’ her life after she was shot four times
Kim Kardashian left stunned after woman claims Skims bodysuit ‘saved’ her life after she was shot four times
A woman has credited Kim Kardashian’s shapewear line Skims for saving her life during a shooting. The 42-year-old Skims founder took to her Instagram Story on Friday 14 July to share a TikTok from Angelina Wiley, a 22-year-old Kansas City resident who survived a mass shooting in Kansas City, Missouri, earlier this year. The TikTok, which was posted on 18 May, went viral this week with more than 1.4m views as fellow TikTokers tagged Kardashian in the hopes that she would see the video. “Kim Kardashian saved my life,” Wiley began the clip. She explained that she was shot “four times” during an incident that occurred on New Year’s Day, according to CBS affiliate KCTV5. “The night that I got shot, under my dress I was wearing a Skims shaping bodysuit,” she said. “It was so tight on me that it literally kept me from bleeding out.” “I recommend it,” Wiley jokingly added. “I’m definitely going to buy some more, I mean I should wear it everyday. It’s like body armour for women.” As she threw her hand up in the air, she said: “Call it fate, or Jesus, but I’mma call it Kim.” In the comments, many people applauded Wiley for telling her story and praised Kardashian’s shapewear line for allegedly saving her life. “If this doesn’t land you a @Skims sponsorship I don’t know what will,” one user wrote. “Now THIS is good advertising,” another said. “Now I’m gonna go buy some Skims.” @honeygxd no but fr, thanks kim 😭😭🫶🏼 #fyp #foryou #gunviolence #kimkardashian #kim #skims #skimsbodysuit #gunviolenceawareness ♬ dream - 💗 In her Instagram Story, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star wrote underneath the re-posted video: “Wowwww” Wiley revealed in a follow-up video that she was wearing the Skims Sculpt Thong Bodysuit ($68) when she was shot four times. In addition to the gunshot wounds, the incident also left her with a ruptured bladder, a cracked pelvis, and a bullet still lodged in her abdomen. The 22-year-old revealed in a series of videos posted last March that she was waiting for a Lyft around 1.30am when she decided to grab a bite from a nearby food truck. As she crossed the street with her friend, Wiley heard “people fighting” before a man “in a ski mask” began shooting. She has since started a GoFundMe page to raise money towards her medical bills. In an update shared on 8 July, after her video went viral, Wiley said she is in physical therapy but she continues to struggle with her hip and “severe PTSD” ever since the shooting. The Independent has contacted Angelina Wiley for comment. Kim Kardashian founded the shapewear brand Skims in September 2019. Since then, it has become one of the fastest-growing companies and launched Kardashian into billionaire status. This month, Skims was reportedly valued at close to $4bn, according to Women’s Wear Daily. Melanie Skyes reveals Tourette’s syndrome diagnosis: ‘Wired a completely different way’
Melanie Skyes reveals Tourette’s syndrome diagnosis: ‘Wired a completely different way’
Melanie Sykes has revealed she’s been diagnosed with Tourette’s syndrome. The 52-year-old I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! star revealed the news of her diagnosis on her close friend Alan Carr’s podcast. Speaking of her diagnosis, Sykes said she’s “wired completely differently” and is “only now” understanding the impact of the neurological disorder on her life. Tourette’s syndrome may cause sudden unwanted and uncontrolled rapid and repeated movements or vocal sounds called tics. During the interview, when Carr assured Sykes that it was fine to swear during the conversation, she said: “Oh good, but I’ll try not to, because I’ve just discovered I have Tourette’s. “I describe in the book (Illuminated: Autism and all the Things I’ve Left Unsaid) how I laugh at really inappropriate things. I am wired a completely different way and I’m only just understanding it. “I used to think, ‘What’s wrong with me?’ Now I know it’s everything that’s right with me,” Sykes added. The new diagnosis comes two years after Sykes was diagnosed with autism. The presenter, who is known for shows like Let’s Do Lunch with Gino D’Acampo, said after the diagnosis that “finally, so many things made sense”. Sykes first revealed her diagnosis in an email to readers of her magazine, The Frank. She wrote that finding out she was on the autism spectrum, which can affect the way people with autism communicate and interact with others, was “life-affirming”. She has since been welcomed into the autistic community with messages from mothers of children on the spectrum and adults diagnosed late in life. “They’re so happy I’m talking about it, normalising it,” Sykes told the magazine. “Some people who were too embarrassed to tell anyone now feel they can. “It makes me extremely happy to know I’ve helped.” Sykes’ diagnosis comes after singer Lewis Capaldi recently announced he was taking a break from touring for the “foreseeable future” due to his Tourette’s. The “Someone You Loved” singer struggled with his performance on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury this year because of his tics, and appeared visibly moved by the huge audience who helped him sing his song. Following the show, Capaldi said he is “still learning to adjust to the impact of my Tourette’s” and needed to spend time taking care of his physical and mental health before he could return to touring.
