Formula 2 champion Felipe Drugovich will replace Lance Stroll for first practice at this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix. Brazilian driver Drugovich, who joined Aston as a test and reserve driver after winning the F2 championship last year, will take one of Aston’s prerequisite rookie practice slots at Monza. Drugovich has happy memories of Monza as it was the track where he clinched the F2 title last year. It will be the 23-year-old’s second taste of action behind the AMR23, having previously filled in for Stroll during pre-season testing in Bahrain after the Canadian injured his wrists a few weeks before the 2023 season. “The car felt great when I drove it in pre-season testing and it will be fascinating to feel how it has improved since then,” said Drugovich. “I’ve spent a lot of time in the simulator helping to develop the car so understanding how that correlates to the real thing will be super valuable for me too. “It’s also a fantastic opportunity for me to demonstrate what I’ve learnt through my testing programme. Since Bahrain I’ve done many more miles in an F1 car so I have an even better understanding of how I can deliver valuable feedback for the team.” All 10 teams are required to fill one FP1 slot per season with a rookie opportunity per car. Will Smith says a “mutiny” by his daughter, Willow Smith, is what first caused him to change his perspective of success. The Hollywood actor has been stepping back into the spotlight following his infamous outburst at the 2022 Oscars, where he slapped Chris Rock on stage after the comedian made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. In an interview with fellow actor and comedian Kevin Hart, on his Peacock show Hart to Hart, Smith spoke about the moment his family rose to fame in 2010. While Smith had enjoyed his own success from 1999 thanks to NBC’s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Willow and his son Jada achieved their own fame in the early Noughties. Musician Willow, 22, released her debut single “Whip My Hair” in 2010, breaking into the UK and US charts when she was just nine years old. Meanwhile Jaden, a rapper and actor, starred opposite Jackie Chan and Taraji P Henson in The Karate Kid that same year, when he was 11. “2010 was like the greatest year as an artist, as a parent,” Smith told Hart, Metro reports. “Karate Kid came out in June and ‘Whip My Hair’ came out in October. My Shackleton bed was blissfully comfortable, with quality mitre linen keeping me cosy throughout the night. Food and drink Kick things off with a wee dram in the cosy Loch View bar. In addition to cocktails, spirits and wine, there’s a good selection of local beers and an impressive selection of whisky. Squishy leather sofas, marble tables and a fireplace make this the perfect place for a tipple with a view thanks to the floor-to-ceiling windows looking over the loch. Cladach Mòr Bistro is an AA rosette awarded restaurant with a focus on Scotland’s excellent produce and with Loch Fyne internationally renowned for the quality of its seafood, it’s the ideal place to dive in. Produce is sourced locally (but of course), with a dream selection of seafood and meat, meaning it’s not the best option for vegetarians and vegans. Langoustines were succulent and bouncy, scallops tender and lemon sole delicious. The venison was also an absolute treat and beautifully cooked. Staff were knowledgeable and warm. Public areas Significant cash has been splashed at the hotel’s new Shore Spa, and it’s largely been a successful investment. The indoor 15 metre pool includes aqua jets to obliterate any persistent muscular knots, while a steam room invites you to sweat it out. Step outside to switch it up in the barrel sauna, before rinsing in the drench shower and hopping into the hot tub with views across the loch. Therapists at the adjacent Inverary Spa, which offers a good selection of treatments, including facials, massages and scrubs, are experienced and professional, and use award-winning natural ishga skincare products made from Scottish seaweed. In addition to the bar and restaurant area, there’s also a games room, with board games to entertain all ages, and an under-stairs snug to escape to with a book. Nuts and bolts Room count: 68 Freebies: Tea, coffee and sweet treats in bedrooms. Wifi: Free wifi is available to all guests throughout the hotel. Extra charges: None. Disability access: The hotel has an access level and a lift to guest bedrooms across three floors. All public areas are accessible. The Cladach Mòr Bistro restaurant, Loch View bar, private rooms and spa are all on the ground floor. The original/older part of the building does not have lift access, however. Pet policy: Well-behaved dogs are welcome in all guestrooms, reception area, Loch View lounge bar and the hotel grounds. Dogs staying overnight are subject to a £20 charge per evening; no charge for service dogs. Bottom line Best thing: Friendly service and those loch views. Lewis Hamilton finished fastest in second practice for the Canadian Grand Prix as the action finally started in Montreal on Friday. The opening running of the weekend was abandoned following an embarrassing CCTV failure at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. But the problem was fixed to allow an extended 90-minute second session later in the day and it was Hamilton who topped the time sheets with Mercedes team-mate George Russell second. Carlos Sainz finished third for Ferrari ahead of Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, while championship leader Max Verstappen ended the day in sixth position for Red Bull. Hamilton finished runner-up to Verstappen at the last round in Spain a fortnight ago in his revamped Mercedes machine, and the seven-time world champion spoke earlier this week about the grid’s once-dominant team having discovered its North Star as they bid to reel in Red Bull. And the early signs at the eighth round of the campaign were again encouraging at a venue where Hamilton has won on seven occasions – more than any other driver. The 38-year-old finished 0.027 seconds clear of Russell in the other Mercedes, with Sainz a tenth adrift. Verstappen, who heads the championship order with five victories from seven appearances this year, finished four tenths back. The second session was brought forward by 30 minutes – and extended to an hour-and-a-half – after the opening running was red-flagged with just four minutes on the board when Pierre Gasly broke down in his Alpine. Only a handful of drivers had posted a lap with Hamilton and Russell among those who had not taken to the track. The session had been expected to restart as usual following the removal of Gasly’s Alpine, but Formula One’s governing body, the FIA, blamed “issues with local CCTV infrastructure” for the initial delay. The suspension in play then became temporary with the FIA confirming at 14:20 local time (19:20 BST) that the session would not be resumed leaving an estimated 90,000 spectators short-changed and the sport with red faces. Two red flags then disrupted the second session after Nico Hulkenberg’s engine blew up, and Esteban Ocon broke down in his Alpine on a troubled day for the French team. Dark clouds lingered over the 14-corner track and heavy rain arrived with 10 minutes remaining to cement Mercedes’ position at the top of the order. Rain is forecast for Saturday’s qualifying session and could also play a part in Sunday’s 70-lap race. Carlos Sainz has lost his personal trainer to Max Verstappen after eight years of working together. The Ferrari driver has worked with Rupert Manwaring since making his F1 debut in 2015, when he drove for Toro Rosso alongside Verstappen. While Verstappen was quickly promoted to Red Bull and has won three world titles, Sainz joined Renault, McLaren and now Ferrari but maintained his partnership with Manwaring. However, Verstappen has poached Manwaring after his own personal trainer Bradley Scanes opted for pastures new, with the intention of spending more time at home. Verstappen’s father, Jos, worked with Manwaring’s father during his own F1 career. Manwaring works for the Hintsa Performance company, launched by Dr Aki Hintsa – who worked with Lewis Hamilton and Mika Hakkinen before he passed away in 2016. Sainz, meanwhile, was a frustrated figure by the end of the season-finale in Abu Dhabi on Sunday. The Spaniard endured a fortnight to forget, demoted 10 places in Las Vegas after his car was damaged due to a loose manhole cover, before qualifying only 16th on the grid for the final race of the season. "Today, the last two weekends, this last weekend in general, haven’t gone like I expected or like we wanted to finish the year," he said. "Honestly, [I’m] very disappointed and obviously not happy. "Given how close it was in the end with the constructors’ championship, we will have to sit down and analyse what we could have done better today and what was going on. “Clearly the pace this weekend and the overall feeling with the car and everything, the end wasn’t good."
