Microsoft has added widgets to Windows 11 that let gamers check how their CPU, GPU and computer memory are faring.

As Neowin notes, Dev Home, the open source developer app announced by Microsoft last month, has released widgets that report your CPU and GPU’s speed, temperature and utilization. Owners of multiple GPUs will be able to switch between different graphic cards at will.

While it's possible to pull up similar stats from the Game Bar, other apps like HWiNFO64, or Windows Task Manager, this move makes it possible to check your computer performance with the Windows key + W shortcut.

To make use of the new feature, you’ll have to download the Dev Home Preview app from the Microsoft Store (it’s free). You can also install it from GitHub. It’s worth bearing in mind that Dev Home is still only in its preview stage. As PCGamesN reports, this means that the widgets aren’t stable and could become unresponsive or even “disappear” from the board entirely.

The move comes as Microsoft rolled out its communities feature on Teams for Windows 11 earlier this week.

The Discord-like feature, which launched on mobile in December, allows for family and friends, or small community groups and businesses, to organize through meetings, calendars, and chat.

Meanwhile, Microsoft is also adding a preview version of Designer to Microsoft Teams on Windows 11. The feature is powered by generative AI technology, and it allows users to create personalized designs by describing a design idea in words or uploading an image..
