'Most cuddling, caring cat' found tortured to death inside microwave while owners were away

ALBERTA, CANADA: In a shocking incident, a cat was discovered inside a microwave after being "tortured and killed." Cheech, a 7-month-old cat, was discovered dead in northwest Edmonton, Canada after the house was broken into while the owner was abroad.

According to the Humane Society, it is unlawful to murder a pet in any US state, and torturing or mutilating an animal in this way is a felony offense nationwide. The PACT (Preventing Animal Cruelty and Torture) Act, which forbids animal torture, burning, drowning, or crushing, carries a maximum three-year prison term and a $250,000 fine. In Canada, where this occurrence took place, both offenses are punishable under law.

'Disturbing assault'

Liza Sunley, CEO of the Edmonton Humane Society (EHS), said in a statement, "This is a horrific act of cruelty, and our hearts go out to the family who lost their beloved cat and witnessed the aftermath of this disturbing assault."

"We are thankful that Edmonton has a dedicated Animal Cruelty Investigation Unit (ACIU) who is taking this investigation seriously," Sunley added. The EHS requests that anybody with information contact the Edmonton Police Service. According to news source Global Edmonton, the intruders defecated on the floor and damaged the house by smashing it up, destroying plants, and throwing food around. Cheech was discovered dead, hanging from the microwave.

'Craziest little kitty'

Cheech's owner, Erica Piche, told the news outlet she had been away on a camping trip. Erica said, "He was the craziest little kitty in the whole entire world. He knew how to fight. He knew how to stand his ground. But he also was the most cuddling, caring cat there was, too. He was only 7 months old."

Numerous studies have discovered a connection between present-day animal cruelty and future violent acts. 40% of violent crimes against people were committed by animal abusers, who made up 70% of all offenders, as per reports.

According to the Animal Welfare Institute, a study published in 2022 revealed a strong link between having an antisocial personality disorder, antisocial personality traits, and drug addiction among persons who had a history of animal cruelty as children.

The study was published in the Journal of the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law. Many of the most horrific serial killers in history, such as Jeffrey Dahmer, the Columbine school shooters, and British child killer Mary Bell, experimented with animal mutilation when they were young, as reported by NewsWeek.
