Man whose wife was killed in wedding night crash speaks out on horrific ordeal
A man who was severely injured and whose wife was killed in an auto accident on the night of their wedding in South Carolina is describing his experience. “My body’s getting back to where I can manage, I guess,” Aric Hutchinson told WCSC on Saturday during a memorial for his wife Samantha Miller, 34, held in Folly Beach, South Carolina. “It’s just as good as I can feel with the situation, but obviously, today and the outpouring of people was just amazing,” he added. “I know Sam would love it.” The beach on the island off the coast of Charlotte North Carolina was where the couple was married. On 28 April, Mr Hutchinson, Miller, and two others were leaving their wedding reception in a golf cart equipped with lights and licensed to drive at night. Police say Jamie Lee Komoroski, 25, slammed into the cart from behind, sending Mr Hutchinson flying 100 yards away from the vehicle. He suffered a brain injury and broken bones as a result of the crash, and was in a wheelchair at Saturday’s memorial. Ms Komoroski, who was allegedly drunkenly driving 65mph in a 25mph zone in a rental car, was arrested and charged with one count of reckless homicide and three counts of felony DUI resulting in great bodily harm. Witnesses told police the crash was like a “loud explosion going off,” while another described Ms Komoroski saying aloud, "I did nothing wrong”. Ms Komoroski had a blood alcohol level three times the legal limit in South Carolina, according to police, and told police she had multiple drinks the night of the crash after refusing to perform a field sobriety test. "Words cannot express how devastated we are by her loss," XenTegra, the North Carolina IT company where Miller worked, said in a statement to NBC News. “She carried a light about her, one that shined so brightly upon everyone with whom she interacted. Simply put, Samantha brought an abundance of joy and laughter to the workplace.” Read More Drunk driver who killed bride on wedding day had blood alcohol level three times over the legal limit Newlywed bride killed after drunk driver hits her golf cart immediately after wedding Family of dead bride urges drivers not to drive drunk

‘I was passing out in the car’ says Lance Stroll as Qatar heat takes its toll
Lance Stroll claimed he passed out at the wheel of his Aston Martin because of the extreme humidity in Sunday’s Qatar Grand Prix. American rookie Logan Sargeant was forced to retire through illness, French driver Esteban Ocon said he vomited in his cockpit, while London-born Thai Alex Albon was taken to the medical centre with acute heat exposure as the grid’s drivers battled the intense conditions at the Lusail International Circuit. A statement from 27-year-old Albon’s Williams team read: “Following the Qatar Grand Prix, Alex was taken to the medical centre to be treated for acute heat exposure. He has now been assessed and cleared by the medical team.” Williams also revealed Sargeant, 22, had suffered from “intense dehydration” following “flu-like symptoms earlier in the week”. Aston Martin’s Stroll, 24, who fell over as he made his way to conduct his media duties, said: “I was passing out in the car. “They painted the kerbs and made the track narrower but you can’t feel the kerbs. I couldn’t see where I was going because I was passing out. I was fading in and out. The temperature was too much.” George Russell, who finished fourth following a first-lap collision with Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton, also revealed he felt ill throughout Sunday’s 57-lap Grand Prix. I was passing out in the car Lance Stroll The 25-year-old said: “It was an absolutely brutal race and by far the most physical race I have ever experienced. “I felt close to fainting in that race and I have never experienced anything like it before. “I wasn’t physically sick in the car but I felt ill. I had to ask my engineer to give me encouragement to take my mind off of it.” This was only the second staging of the Qatar race and the first of a 10-year deal. Next year’s edition will be held two months later in December when it is expected to be cooler. Saweetie’s ‘caveman’ inspired VMAs dress unsurprisingly sparks comparisons to The Flintstones
It appears that Saweetie has taken her latest fashion inspiration from the Stone Age. On 12 September, the “Best Friend” rapper attended the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) in a pink, sequin gown featuring a halter neck and her hair pulled back into a sleek pony. However, it was the two oversized bones attached to the dress that seemed to capture everyone’s attention. As she posed for photos on the “pink” carpet outside the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, one bone appeared to be tied to her collar, while the other was tied at the waist. The unique dress first debuted in Area’s Fall Winter 2023 collection, which contained several designs full of bones, fur, and animal patterns. While hosting the MTV VMAs pre-show, Saweetie - whose real name is Diamonté Quiava Valentin Harper - explained the reasoning behind her eye-catching look. “The inspiration behind this is fashion when it first started: Cavemen,” she said. Saweetie also appeared to be having fun on the red carpet with her caveman-inspired dress, even kissing the bone in one photo. However, it wasn’t just the “ICY GRL” singer who joined in on the fun. In fact, many people took to X - formally known as Twitter - where they cracked jokes about Saweetie’s VMAs look. Unsurprisingly, a number of awards show viewers compared the rapper’s outfit of choice to something from The Flintstones. “Saweetie looks like a Flintstone,” joked one person on X. “Is she wearing the Fred Flintstone collection?” said someone else. “Are the VMAs being held in Bedrock?” a third user wrote. Despite some critics, many fans still complimented Saweetie’s caveman-inspired outfit. “Saweetie look like a Icy Flintstone,” said one user. “I loveeeee her #VMA”. “Saweetie looks soo cute I love her makeup,” another fan wrote. In addition to Saweetie, there were many other memorable fashion moments at this year’s MTV VMAs. Doja Cat wore a barely-there, white Apocene dress that closely resembled spider webs. Her look featured sparse, white fabric draped across her body, with a pair of nude underwear hidden underneath the ensemble. Meanwhile, VMAs host Nicki Minaj took wedding fashion to a whole new level when she arrived in a pink, corset bodysuit with a sheer, lace skirt and a dramatic vail. Taylor Swift leads this year’s nominees with eight nods, followed closely by “Kill Bill” singer SZA, who holds six nominations. Doja Cat, Kim Petras, Miley Cyrus, Nicki Minaj, Olivia Rodrigo and Sam Smith are tied at five nominations, and BLACKPINK, Diddy and Shakira each received four. Toto Wolff slams ‘moaning’ across F1 grid after Lewis Hamilton apology
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff says Lewis Hamilton bucked the trend by apologising after an incident in Sunday’s Italian Grand Prix, insisting the rest of the F1 grid “complains and moans to try and not get a penalty.” Hamilton admitted he was at fault for a collision with McLaren’s Oscar Piastri at Monza – he received a five-second time penalty as a result – and apologised to the Australian after the race. Wolff, who stated that Max Verstappen’s 10th win in a row was “completely irrelevant”, concurred with Hamilton’s analysis and made a sharp dig at the rest of the field in the process. “Lewis is very sportsmanlike with these things – and he is the only one that I see out there admitting, saying that he’s wrong,” Wolff told media after the race. “We just had a chat and he said ‘I didn’t see him on the right and that is on me’. And I think that kind of sportsmanship is what you need to admire with him. “Pretty much everyone else is complaining and moaning just to try to not get a penalty. “These things happen. It was hard racing to overtake here and we’ve seen a few of these. It [the penalty] was justified.” Ultimately, the penalty had no impact on Hamilton who finished sixth, while the clash cost Piastri a top-10 finish after he had to pit for a new front nose, dropping him down the order. He finished 12th. Hamilton said: “I misjudged the gap I had with Piastri right at the end. It was totally my fault. “I apologised to him straight afterwards and we move on.” Piastri, though disappointed with the race-impacting clash, seemed satisfied with Hamilton’s apology. “He creeped over a bit more than he thought,” Piastri said. “The stewards gave their verdict and Lewis apologised and nothing more I can ask for or do at that point.” Hamilton’s team-mate, George Russell, finished fifth in an indifferent weekend for Mercedes in Monza after the pair signed new contracts until the end of the 2025 season.
