Kanye West criticised for dressing kids in 'Handmaid's Tale'-style robes for Sunday Service
Kanye West has been criticised for making some pretty dystopian wardrobe choices for his latest Sunday Service outing with his family and new wife. The congregation at West’s gospel group service included some of the rapper's own kids, who headed to the ceremony in billowing white robes and face masks. Images of the group immediately invited comments on social media, likening the anachronistic outfits to something out of 'The Handmaid's' tale. But, the children in the congregation were far from the only attendees to draw attention due to their unusual outfits. Sign up to our free Indy100 weekly newsletter West and his wife Bianca Censori were also captured wearing some highly unconventional clothing. Censori could be seen dressed head to toe in what could be described as one large pare of tights covering her whole body. Meanwhile, West himself was seen sporting a pair of black leggings along with a heavily padded-out black t-shirt with the word “Polizei” (the German word for police) on it. West started his Sunday Service gospel group in 2019 and his four children, whom he shares with reality star Kim Kardashian, are fairly frequent attendees. On social media, users shared their thoughts on the rapper and his wife’s unusual clothing. Someone wrote: “Just free her... What cult it this?” Another said: “Kanye West being just Kanye West.” In the most recent episode of her Hulu reality show, Kardashian opened up about what it was like to be married to West, particularly as he struggled with his mental health, being diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2016. Kardashian explained: “I used to run around and call everyone behind his back and be like, ‘It's gonna be okay, don't worry, just give him another chance.’ I used to spend hours and hours and hours of my days as the clean-up crew.” She added: “It's the hardest feeling to watch someone you really loved, and you have a family with be so different than what you knew.” Have your say in our news democracy. Julia Fox hits back at criticism over her nearly nude look at New York Fashion Week: ‘It’s just my body’
Julia Fox has shared a candid response to the criticism over her latest look at New York Fashion Week. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, published on 7 September, Fox, 33, addressed the backlash she faced over the outfit, which consisted of a chain bra with metal pasties and chain bottoms that she was wearing underneath a black trench coat. As she described some of the remarks that people made about her look, she also questioned why the outfit was an issue in the first place. “I got in trouble for that one,” she said. “There were a lot of haters, being like: ‘This is unacceptable. This is setting such a bad example.’ But, it’s like: ‘Why?’ It’s just my body.’” The Uncut Gems star continued to make quips about why online trolls were criticising her body. “Is my body, like, ugly? Is my body a crime?” she joked. “Did my body slap your grandma? The way that they were acting, it was like, What the heck!” She also spoke candidly about why she chooses the memorable outfits she wears when attending major events. “If people could see what I dress like in my day to day, it’s literally like boxers, stained, dirty T-shirts, Adidas slides. It’s not this,” she said. “That’s kind of why when I do get dressed up, I want to go all out because my real life is so unglamorous.” This isn’t the first time that Fox has made headlines with one of her outfits. In May 2022, she went viral when she was seen wearing a black and white bra-and-underwear set from Alexander Wang while at a supermarket. Although she didn’t have a top over the bra, she was wearing an oversized denim jacket, and a pair of calf-length denim boots. Amid the confusion over why she wore the outfit, Fox took to Instagram Stories to make some clarifications. Sharing a meme of herself, which read “when it’s laundry day but you have errands to run,” Fox said: “I just think that if it’s socially acceptable at the beach it should be the same everywhere lol.” Earlier this year, Fox also hit back at criticism over her appearance, with the actor shutting down rumours that she’s taking Ozempic, a Type 2 diabetes medication that has been used for weight loss. “All these people are coming for me saying that I take the weight loss things...people are saying that I’m taking Ozempic or whatever it’s called,” she told ET in March. “I’m not and I never have...I would never do that. There are diabetics that need it.” During her recent interview with ET, which took place at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show, Fox quipped that the semi-sheer dress and pair of black wings she was wearing was “pretty tame” look. However, she still poked fun at how she styled her long, black hair, adding: “We’re rocking a mullet today because I think Fashion Week is a mullet — it’s business in the front, party in the back.” She also expressed her excitement about walking the runway for Victoria Secret’s 2023 fashion show. “I’m really happy about it. I grew up wearing Victoria’s Secret and stealing the underwear and bras, but that’s the old me,” Fox said. “Now I get it for free! Still not paying, take notes.” Read More FASHION PHOTOS: Naomi Campbell struts the runway in shimmery silver in new fast fashion collab Julia Fox blasts celebrity use of Ozempic for weight loss: ‘There are diabetics that need it’ Irvine Welsh and Bernardine Evaristo on book festival line-up Pamela Anderson reveals why she plans to sell ‘all’ her old clothes Tabi Swiper: How a woman’s Tinder date committed a ‘sinister’ fashion crime 4 viral TikTok make-up trends you’ll actually want to try

Max Verstappen up against it in Singapore after struggling in final practice
Max Verstappen faces a fight to take pole position at the Singapore Grand Prix after calling his Red Bull “unacceptable” in final practice. As Carlos Sainz raced to the top of the time charts at the Marina Bay Circuit, Verstappen finished fourth. The Dutchman is on an unprecedented 10-race winning streak with his Red Bull team unbeaten at the 14 rounds of the season so far. But Verstappen bemoaned the handling of his car in the city-state, describing the upshifts in his Red Bull machinery as “unacceptable”. He added: “These upshifts, what the f***. I am just struggling for rear grip. If I competed in drifting, I might win the race.” Verstappen returned to the track in the closing moments of the one-hour running, ringing the neck of his Red Bull to move from sixth to fourth, 0.313 sec slower than Sainz. But his struggles will give the chasing pack hope of finally stopping Verstappen and Red Bull with Ferrari holding the upper hand heading into qualifying later on Saturday. Sainz and team-mate Charles Leclerc traded top spot in the two practice sessions here on Friday, with the former again fastest in the concluding running before the fight for pole. Leclerc looked set to eclipse Sainz only to make a mistake in the second sector before backing out of his speediest lap, finishing fifth. George Russell took an encouraging second for Mercedes, just 0.069 sec slower than Sainz, with Lando Norris third in his McLaren. Lewis Hamilton was sixth for Mercedes, within half-a-second of Sainz. Verstappen’s team-mate Sergio Perez, who won here last year, finished eighth, 0.719 sec back. Qualifying for the 15th round of 22 takes place at 2100 local time (1400 BST). Signs and symptoms of breast cancer as Amy Dowden reveals diagnosis
Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer Amy Dowden has revealed she has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Caerphilly-born Dowden, who joined the BBC dance competition show in 2017, shared the news on Instagram, telling fans that she is “determined” to return to the dance floor as soon as she can. The 32-year-old wrote: “Hey all, I’ve got some news which isn’t easy to share. I’ve recently been diagnosed with breast cancer but I’m determined to get back on that dance floor before you know it.”Maldives Dowden went to the GP after realising the lump had grown after her holiday. Last week she was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. She told Hello Magazine: “My doctor explained to me that there are three grades, and three is the most aggressive, but they feel like they’ve caught mine early and to not be too alarmed because grade three would be expected in somebody of my age. “You just don’t ever think it’s going to happen to you. I hadn’t thought it was possible to get breast cancer at my age. “My mum has had breast cancer, but she had it at a later age, in her 50s.” What are the signs to know? Many women know that a lump can be a possible symptom of breast cancer, but there are other signs of the disease to look for,” says Manveet Basra, head of public health and wellbeing at Breast Cancer Now. “While most breast changes, including lumps, won’t be cancer, it’s important to contact your GP as soon as possible if you notice a change to your breast that’s new or unusual for you, as the sooner breast cancer is found, the more successful treatment is likely to be.” Clare O’Neill from CoppaFeel!, wants everyone to be breast aware, “Because people of all ages and genders have breast tissue”, she says. She recommends checking your breasts or pecs once a month, while adding: “It can be normal to have pain and lumps around the time of your period.” So what symptoms other than lumps should you be aware of? If you see “any puckering, thickening, dimpling or rash of the skin, talk to your doctor”, advises O’Neill. “Also talk to your doctor if you notice a change in direction of the nipple or any bleeding or discharge from the nipple, or swelling of the chest or armpit. Breast awareness is not supposed to be scary, it’s about empowering people to know their bodies.” How to check your breasts “Checking your breasts only takes a few minutes. It could be when getting dressed, when showering or putting on moisturiser,” says Basra. “It’s important to remember to check your whole breast area, your armpits and up to your collarbone (upper chest) for changes. There’s no special technique, it’s as simple as TLC: Touch, Look, Check.” See your GP if you have any worries about possible symptoms, and you can call Breast Cancer Now’s free helpline on 0808 800 6000. Continued struggles will leave Mercedes frustrated and confused – Martin Brundle
Lewis Hamilton’s “frustrated and confused” Mercedes team are in survival mode, leading Formula One pundit Martin Brundle has claimed. Hamilton finished fourth, two places ahead of team-mate George Russell, at Sunday’s Belgian Grand Prix, while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen wrapped up his eighth straight win. Although Mercedes are second in the constructors’ championship heading into the sport’s summer break, Hamilton appears no closer to ending his 35-race losing streak. The seven-time world champion was also dealt a major blow in Spa-Francorchamps after an upgrade – which included new sidepods and a revised floor – appeared to contribute to the return of porpoising. Speaking after the race, Hamilton said his Mercedes was bouncing “everywhere” and said the sensation was reminiscent of last year’s car – a machine which carried him to the poorest championship finishing position of his career. “Mercedes will be very frustrated,” said Brundle, 64. “Their car is on a knife edge to set up, to understand and to drive. “They are surviving the season, as they did last year, and making the best of a bad situation because they are a great team. “But I would imagine they are confused with this car. They promise a great result, get something special, then go to the next race with upgrades and fall off the pace.” Mercedes have claimed just one victory in the past 19 months. Their poor form is a far cry from the dominance which saw them secure an unprecedented eight consecutive constructors’ titles. And Russell revealed the Brackley team have been drawing creativity from their once all-conquering machines. “We are working really hard on the characteristics for next yea, and we are looking a lot at how the previous generation of cars were for Mercedes, the glory years, and using that as inspiration,” said Russell. “Clearly they were some of the best cars in history. So that is giving us some pointers of where we need to aim for. “I am sure we will be strong in the second half of the season. We have some little things coming after the break and I am confident we will secure second in the team championship and close the gap to Red Bull.” Read More Charity boss speaks out over ‘traumatic’ encounter with royal aide Ukraine war’s heaviest fight rages in east - follow live Max Verstappen taunts F1 rivals with ‘pit-stop training’ offer Max Verstappen beats Oscar Piastri to sprint race pole in Belgium How Max Verstappen and record-breaking Red Bull compare to Formula One greats
