A 20-year-old student from Belgium sadly lost his life after eating leftover pasta – and social media users are only just learning about the horrifying incident. In 2008, a man only known as AJ, was poisoned after eating spaghetti he left on the counter for five days at room temperature. He added fresh tomato sauce to the pasta before reheating and eating it. The Journal of Clinical Microbiology reported that the student became sick around 30 minutes after consuming the dish when he suffered from headaches, abdominal pain, and nausea. When he arrived at the hospital, AJ was vomiting for several hours with bouts of diarrhoea. Sadly, he died the following day around 10 hours after eating the leftover pasta. They later found that the pasta was contaminated with Bacillus cereus, a toxin caused by contaminated food. I get nervous when I leave it out a few hours." Another added: "Three days tops IN THE FRIDGE. IN THE FRIDGE DAMNIT." Meanwhile, a third commented: "The meal preppers worry me the most. Like how are you eating week old left over chicken and broccoli… you know that broccoli be broccoling." According to Mayo Clinic, "leftovers can be kept for three to four days in the refrigerator. After that, the risk of food poisoning goes up. If you don't think you'll be able to eat leftovers within four days, freeze them right away." Lewis Hamilton has denied Christian Horner’s claims that he reached out over a potential move from Mercedes, saying the Red Bull team principal is “just stirring things”. Max Verstappen has received a five-place grid penalty for the Belgian Grand Prix as a result of exceeding his gearbox allocation. The Red Bull driver, who is cruising to his third-straight world title, currently has a 110-point lead in the standings at the halfway stage of the 2023 season. The Dutchman started 14th on the grid at Spa-Francorchamps last year and went on to win the race and will have a deficit from the start this Sunday given his penalty. The penalty will just apply to Sunday’s grand prix, as opposed to the sprint race on Saturday. Teams are limited to just four each of a prescribed number of gearbox components. It is not yet clear which component Verstappen has exceeded his allocation on. Qualifying for the grand prix takes place on Friday afternoon. Verstappen has won nine of the 11 races so far this season, with team-mate Sergio Perez winning the other two. This weekend’s race at Spa is the last meet before the summer break, with the season resuming at the end of August with the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort. Max Verstappen dented Lando Norris’ dream of a shock pole position at the British Grand Prix by taking top spot in the closing seconds of a dramatic qualifying session. Norris surged to the summit of the order to the delight of the Silverstone crowd, only to see Verstappen snatch pole by 0.241 seconds as the last driver over the line. Norris starts alongside Verstappen, who took his fifth consecutive pole, with Oscar Piastri third on an excellent day for McLaren at the British team’s home race.
