Fernando Alonso: Hamilton can win eighth title but Verstappen can break records
Fernando Alonso believes Lewis Hamilton can still win an eighth world championship – but has warned that Max Verstappen is ready to break the British driver’s records. Hamilton will head into Sunday’s Spanish Grand Prix on a 30-race losing streak following Mercedes’ failure to provide him with a winning machine. He is already 75 points behind Max Verstappen in the standings, with the Dutchman on course to secure his third world title in as many years. Hamilton, 38, said he was “counting down the days” until the arrival of Mercedes’ upgrade, but following its debut at last weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix, he admitted here in Spain that the new design has not provided him with the step forward he was hoping for. He also revealed it will be a “long process” to dethrone Verstappen’s dominant Red Bull team. However, in an interview with the PA news agency, Alonso, who at 41 is the only driver older than Hamilton on the grid, said: “Lewis will be in contention for the eighth title. “I don’t know if that will be next year, or in the future, but he will have another chance of winning the championship, that is for sure. “Mercedes are a very strong team, and Lewis is a very strong driver. He doesn’t forget how to drive from one season to the next. “The Mercedes car is not an easy one to drive and it is not a fast car, but you see every weekend that Lewis is always there – fourth, fifth, fourth, and he was second in Australia. He is driving on top of the car.” Hamilton’s rival Verstappen took his maiden Formula One win on his Red Bull debut in Spain seven years ago. On Sunday, a fifth victory of the year would put him on 40 victories for his career, leaving him just one shy of Ayrton Senna’s tally, and with only Hamilton (103 wins), Michael Schumacher (91), Sebastian Vettel (53) and Alain Prost (51) ahead of him. On Thursday, Verstappen, 25, said Red Bull has the speed to win the remaining 16 races and complete an unprecedented clean sweep and Alonso believes the Dutch driver could eclipse Hamilton’s win record and the seven championships he shares with Schumacher. “Until the regulations change in 2026, Red Bull will contend for the championships so there will be many chances for Max to win races,” said Alonso. “He is young, the calendar is longer than ever before, with 24 opportunities to win every year, so he can break the records along the way. “But there are also no guarantees. When I won two championships [in 2005 and 2006], I thought I would win a few more and have a lot of wins, so Max cannot relax because things can change quickly.” For Alonso, his home race this weekend marks the 10th anniversary of his 32nd and last win in the sport. However, the Spaniard is enjoying a career resurgence following his transfer from Alpine to Aston Martin, finishing on the podium at five of the first six races and earning a new fan base along the way. And he still hopes he could yet be a contender for this season’s crown. “Things can change rapidly so I will not give up on the title until it is mathematically impossible,” said Alonso, speaking at ‘IL PITSTOP’ – an immersive Aston Martin garage experience from Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0% “We have a low chance and we have to be realistic about that. Max is showing great performances and no weak points. “But we need to challenge him closer to see if he makes any mistakes because at the moment life is too easy for Max. “We have a new generation of younger fans who didn’t see me stepping on the podium before. They probably thought you lose performance and ability with age and I was just a driver from the past. “But eventually they see the car – as we repeat many times but sometimes you need to prove it once again – is the most important thing in Formula One, and they suddenly see you are a good driver. “My popularity is on a high, and for Aston Martin and the sport in general, too, so we have to ride this wave.” :: IL PITSTOP is designed to reimagine the perfect pitstop, where fans can soak up the atmosphere and excitement of a race while also taking the chance to pause and enjoy a Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0%. The custom-designed build features the AMR23 replica car, a bespoke viewing gallery, team radio, and an elevated and unique sampling experience of Peroni Nastro Azzurro 0.0%. Christian Horner: Nobody can blame Lewis Hamilton for considering Red Bull move
Lewis Hamilton cannot be blamed for considering a blockbuster switch to Red Bull following Mercedes’ failure to provide him with a winning machine, Christian Horner has claimed. Red Bull team principal Horner confirmed on Friday that Hamilton’s father Anthony made an inquiry about the availability of a seat alongside Max Verstappen at the grid’s all-conquering team. Verstappen has won the past three world championships, while Hamilton last took a victory at the penultimate round of the 2021 season in Saudi Arabia. “I have known Anthony Hamilton for 15 years and I don’t think he was enquiring about himself to come and drive,” said Horner of Anthony, who managed his son in the formative years of his career. “I don’t know who represents who, but with the surname you would think they are reasonably close. “Anthony is a good guy, a proud racing father and inevitably when drivers go through tough spots – and Lewis has not won a Grand Prix for two years – questions will be asked up and down the paddock. “Lewis is the most successful driver of all time and he hasn’t won a grand prix since 2021. You have not got to be a rocket scientist to work that out and I doubt I was the only one that an inquiry was made to.” Red Bull will head into the season finale having failed to win just one of the 21 rounds so far. Verstappen has triumphed on 18 occasions – a record for any driver during a single campaign. Hamilton’s Mercedes team are in a state of flux, but the seven-time world champion signed a two-year deal with the Silver Arrows, worth £100million, in August. Sergio Perez is contracted to Red Bull for 2024. On Thursday, Hamilton denied seeking a move to Red Bull and claimed it was instead Horner who approached him. “I have checked with everyone in my team and nobody has spoken to them. However, he (Horner) did reach out to me earlier on in the year about meeting up,” Hamilton said. Horner added: “It is entirely normal for drivers, drivers’ representatives and drivers’ parents to have different conversations during the year. “There was never a seat available and there was never any engagement. There are many drivers we hear from during the course of the year. “We have not had any serious discussions with Lewis and there was never a seat available.” Read More George Russell fastest as rookies handed chance in first Abu Dhabi practice Class action lawsuit filed over farcical start to Las Vegas Grand Prix Toto Wolff fuelled by ‘personal anger’ to help Lewis Hamilton win eighth title On this day in 2010: Sebastian Vettel becomes youngest ever F1 world champion F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix LIVE: Practice updates and times at Yas Marina Christian Horner reveals talks with Lewis Hamilton’s father over Red Bull seat

Trump news – live: Trump rails against ‘villains’ as he is named ‘Man of the Decade’ at Michigan GOP dinner
Donald Trump railed against a list of “villains” including electric vehicles (EVs), President Joe Biden and “radical left lunatics” as he delivered a speech in the battleground state of Michigan on Sunday night. The former president spoke before 2,500 supporters at Oakland County GOP’s Lincoln Day Dinner, where he was honoured by the party as its “Man of the Decade”. During the event, he claimed that electric vehicles would result in the “decimation” of the state’s traditional auto industry and claimed that his criminal indictments are “bulls***”. Michigan could be a key focus of the 2024 race after Mr Trump won the state in 2016 but lost it to Mr Biden in 2020. His appearance came one day after he told a crowd of evangelicals on Saturday that the federal government has a “vital role” in the restriction of abortion access and once again took credit for overturning Roe v Wade. But the former president did not detail his proposal for national abortion restrictions at the Faith & Freedom Coalition conference in Washington DC, in contrast to his 2024 rival Mike Pence, who said he supports outlawing care nationally at 15 weeks of pregnancy. Bre Tiesi reveals whether she’d have another child with Nick Cannon
Bre Tiesi has revealed whether she’d have another child with Nick Cannon, who is already the father of 12 children. The Selling Sunset star shared her thoughts about expanding her family during a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight. Tiesi has one child, Legendary Love, who she welcomed with Cannon in June 2022. According to Tiesi, she’s not sure if she wants to have another child, given how focused she’s been on her career. “I do and I don’t,” she said. “I think that for where I’m at in my career and my life right now, I just don’t know how I could possibly manage another child.” However, she went on to note that she’s not against the possibility of giving Legendary a younger brother or sister. “Part of me does want to give him another sibling, but he has a few of those, so I don’t think he’s necessarily missing out, but it’s hard. I don’t know,” she said, referring to her son’s many half siblings. In addition to Legendary, Cannon welcomed four other children in 2022 with different women. He welcomed his daughter, Onyx Ice Cole, with model LaNisha Cole in September, and his son, Rise Messiah, with Brittany Bell in October. Cannon and Bell also share a six-year-old son, Golden, and two-year-old daughter, Powerful Queen. In November, the comedian and Abby De La Rosa welcomed their daughter, Beautiful Zeppelin Cannon. This is the pair’s third child, as they also share two-year-old twins, Zion and Zillion. The Masked Singer host and Alyssa Scott welcomed their daughter, Halo Marie, in December, one year after their son, Zen, died from a rare brain tumour. In addition, the comedian shares his 12-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, with ex-wife Mariah Carey. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Tiesi said that she’s spoken to Cannon about having more children and that he’s “open to whatever”. However, she echoed that if she “can’t do it a hundred per cent, I don’t want to do that”. The realtor also acknowledged that she’s still working on balancing her professional and personal life as a mother of one. “I don’t want to take more attention away from my son than I already do, working like I do, so I’m really trying to figure out how to manage that, and I think adding in another aspect of another human would be very hard,” she explained. Elsewhere in the interview, Tiesi spoke candidly about her unconventional relationship with Cannon, and praised him for being so involved in their child’s life. “So, here’s the thing that I know everyone wants to argue with me about - but he makes his own schedule,” she said. “He can show up every day, when he stops from work. He can come at night. So, he’s here every week, and especially when he’s home, he’s here.” She noted that while she and Cannon don’t have a “set schedule” or “plan things,” he’s still extremely “supportive” of her. “He’s very present and he’s at anything and everything I ask him to be at. So, I’m very happy. He’s very supportive,” she said. During an episode of Selling Sunset that aired last month, Tiesi described her relationship with Cannon as “open,” noting that her “situation is interesting” and that she wouldn’t say she’s “single”. “I don’t want to call it open, but open relationship, I guess. I just know we just had a baby, we’re really happy, so I’m happy in my relationship now,” she said. “I’m not a monogamy kind of person. Everything I’ve ever seen is divorce, and people are unhappy and it ends badly, and the kids suffer. Men can’t keep it together. It’s never us.” Read More Nick Cannon shares Mariah Carey’s ‘high frequency’ reaction to actor having 12 children Nick Cannon accused of misogyny over ‘pathetic’ Taylor Swift remark Nick Cannon forgets one of his children when asked to name all 12 How do I get a mammogram screening? Why Does Everyone Want To Smell Wet Right Now?
As a very proud water sign, I will always find a way to be in, near, on, or around a body of water. It’s how I center myself to feel peaceful and invigorated, or when I feel like reenacting The Little Mermaid. Despite being chronically dehydrated, my connection to water is boundless. I always feel my best near a body of water, so when I can’t make it to the water’s edge, I’ve found perfume to be the next best thing. Various fragrance brands are trying to bottle that cleansing energy in all forms, whether its water from an ocean, rain after a monsoon, or even a large infinity pool. Wanting to smell ‘wet’ is the new wave; the sweet spot between a ‘skin scent’ and a water scent.
